We believe in children learning from a teacher who is passionate about education and the subjects she is teaching. We want students to love learning and we strive to foster their natural curiosity and joy of learning. Our teachers provide instruction and direction for each subject to ensure students are following along and comprehending the content of each lesson.
Our curriculum is carefully selected to be well-rounded and give students a strong foundation in core subjects. Most subjects include written work but will also include group discussions and collaboration.
Our curriculum supports a Christian worldview and virtues. All families are welcome to enroll in our school, with the understanding of our beliefs.
We want all of our students to be proficient in expressing their thoughts in both written and verbal communication. We incorporate group discussions into each subject so that students can engage in a dialogue with their peers and teacher. We also encourage students to answer questions in complete sentences in their workbooks. This traditional written method reinforces retention of information, concentration, and hand-eye coordination.
We use the Rod & Staff math series. We chose this program because it's how math "used to be" taught. It is thorough and ensures mastery of each concept before moving on. We partner with parents to assess student placement based on their current math level and experience. Math is a daily subject and should be prioritized during at-home learning days.
The Shurley English curriculum has assembled a unique combination of features and strategies to provide for student success in grammar, writing, and reading. Students also learn language arts through jingles that incorporate rhythm, rhyme, movement, and fun.
Students will work in Abeka's Spelling and Poetry 3 workbook to build confidence in written and verbal communication. Students will learn spelling rules through age-appropriate definitions and implementation exercises that help connect spelling with reading, Bible, and other subjects. Eight poems are also included to help students appreciate the beauty of language and the literary value of poetry.

Teachers will lead students through the study guides to focus on vocabulary, spelling, comprehension, and composition skills. Writing is thinking, and good questioning stimulates the child to think and write!
